There are days, and there are days, Let me tell you.
The ’90s were a different time, and as the haze of nostalgia becomes thicker and thicker, the truth of those times becomes impossible to see. Sure, if you just look at the clothes and fashion that have recently seeped back into pop culture, it’s easy just to see the good and none of the bad. It’s true, though; it was a better time. The economy was booming, inflation was down, and people seemed more . . . together. We had our differences, of course, but on a basic level, we all felt more united as a people. And while I hate to wax nostalgic on you, I have to say, and there is ample evidence, that it was the halcyon days. And I spent two years of it locked in a box as a sexual gimp.
There are certain moments in the day when the air is just right when the sun crosses the room in such a way that I cannot help but think of those times and laugh. My wife, Amber, will ask, but I can never explain it. My time in that pawn show basement wasn’t all “Sexual Gimp in a Trunk” after all; sometimes Maynard and I would play ping pong, or I’d act as his footstool while he watched baseball.
